Letter to Elon #4

March 20, 2025

Dear Elon –

I’m getting rather fond of our correspondence, albeit rather one-sided. I wonder if you are seeing my letters. I mustn’t expect too much from someone as busy as you are. Every day in the paper I see where you have been doing something newsworthy. I wonder how you can be in so many places at once. I’m glad you’re not wearing your little son on your shoulders anymore – it could be quite dangerous for him with you darting in and out of doorways at such a rapid pace. Not to criticize your parenting, but those pictures really did disturb me. One bang to the forehead and you could lose a progeny, although I understand you have many more so maybe that’s not a worry for you.

Before I (proudly) list my 5 things for this week, I did want to clarify what address I should be using for my weekly letters and postcards. I have looked on line for a mailing address for you and am quite dismayed. Your address keeps changing, and sometimes there is none at all! This is alarming. You should have a nice stable home to retreat to at the end of a busy day, but it seems you don’t even have a consistent office address. These are some of the ones that I have found for you and DOGE: 736 Jackson Place NW, Washington DC 20503; 1650-17th St NW, Washington DC 20006; c/o The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC 20500; Corporate Secretary, Tesla, Inc. 3500 Deer Creek Road, Palo Alto, CA 94304. I’d really appreciate hearing from you just how best to keep up our correspondence.

Now – sorry to keep you waiting! – here are my 5-things-I-did this week:

  • I called my congresspeople in hopes they can do something about the attack on the US Institute of Peace. Did you hear about that? So shocking. Of all things, to declare war on a non-profit dedicated to world peace. Did I tell you that I am a mediator? You can imagine how much this offends me.
  • I opened a substack site. It’s called “5-things-I-did” I have you to thank for giving me this idea that has gone, well maybe not viral quite yet…but somewhat contagious.
  • I made a donation to a food pantry. I didn’t realize that they no longer receive federal subsidies which allowed them to buy from local farmers at a fair price. It was a great deal for the farmers who had a good market and for the needy who got yummy, nutritious locally grown food. I suppose it’s below your pay grade, as they say, to rectify this.
  • I invited friends and friends of friends to a postcard-writing gathering next Monday. Isn’t that fun? Wish you could make a surprise appearance – then we wouldn’t have to fuss over what address to use for you!
  • I had lunch with a friend who was pretty down in the dumps, and she left with spirits lifted after I told her about my postcard writing campaign. Even helping just one person is so satisfying, isn’t it?

OK, well, I’ve taken enough of your time. Forgive me! But to tell you the truth, you have become a really important person in my life. And I hope that you have a warm spot in your heart for me too!

Have a nice day!

Lucy

  2. I think Elon is asking himself, who is this clever woman. Great idea.
